Meet the Team
Meet the Leaders of MentalMates.

Founder and Executive Director
Jamie Park
Hello! My name is Jamie Park, and I'm a junior at Peachtree Ridge High School. I'm the Co-Founder and Executive Director of MentalMates. Throughout my life, I've participated in many online communities, forums, and chat services that revolve around helping others with their mental health. This small interest of mine soon grew into a passion and a desire to spread mental health awareness and wellness services to a greater range of individuals, hence why I've decided to create MentalMates alongside Nova Nguyen. I'm incredibly excited to see the growth of our organization and how we'll be able to serve those around us!

Founder and Executive Director
Nova Nguyen
Salutations! My name is Nova Nguyen, and I'm a junior at Peachtree Ridge High School. I'm happy to introduce myself as the Co-Founder and Executive Director of MentalMates. As someone who has struggled with maintaining good mental health in the past (and still does at times), I hope to continue my journey with other passionate individuals. I'm QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) certified and have been passionate about helping people with their mental health status. I'm delighted to work on building MentalMates with Jamie Park, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for our organization!

Head of Research
Supasuda Mongkolsmai (PJ)
My passion for mental health advocacy began when I witnessed the profound effects that poor mental health had on people close to me. At the time, I didn’t fully understand the concept of ‘mental health’ because it was rarely discussed in my community. As I grew older, I realized this lack of acknowledgment stemmed from the stigma surrounding mental health. This motivated me to join the team as I believe mental health is something everyone experiences, and it should be a topic that can be openly discussed so that people can seek the support they need without fear or judgment.

Head of Research
Zahwa Calcatti
Zahwa Calcatti is the Head of Research at MentalMates and in the 11th grade. She developed a passion for mental health after experiencing mental health struggles herself, leading her to recognize and understand the importance of cognitive health awareness.

Head of Marketing
Layla Kettering
Hello! My name is Layla Kettering, I’m a junior attending Legend High School. I’m so excited to be the Executive Marketing Manager for MentalMates! I have grown up with a passion for psychology, whether it’s been reading books or articles, it’s always been appealing to me. MentalMates offered me the opportunity to pursue that interest and allowed me to start making a difference early! Not only that, but as someone interested in design and creativity, marketing has given me the perfect outlet to combine my love of art and creation! I am eager to apply my skills to MentalMates and see what differences we can truly make!

Podcast Coordinator
Jaylin Joo
Hi! My name is Jaylin Joo, I’m a junior in high school. I like Halloween. After taking AP Psychology, I found out that there was a lot more to mental health than I was already aware of. I also enjoyed learning the “behind the scenes” of everyday things like sleeping or why we act a certain way.

Volunteer Coordinator
Chloe Do
Hi everyone! My name is Chloe Do, and I’m a senior at Peachtree Ridge High School. I’m excited to serve as the Volunteer Coordinator for MentalMates. A few years ago, I watched someone close to me struggle with mental illness, which ultimately led to them taking their own life. This experience opened my eyes to how dangerous mental health challenges can be, especially when their effects aren’t visible. It taught me the importance of raising awareness and providing support to those facing these adversities. As I continue to navigate my own mental health journey, I’m eager to work alongside others at MentalMates to create a world where no one faces these battles alone!

Volunteer Coordinator
Jiya Bhagat
Hi! My name is Jiya Bhagat, I am a Junior in high school who loves to read and help others. I am also passionate about learning, leadership, and making a positive impact. I balance academics with extracurricular activities like soccer, dance, and running, while exploring my deep interest in the medical field through various healthcare programs. My curiosity about mental health grew when a friend of mine was going through a difficult time. It pushed me to learn more about what I could do and how I could help. This experience deepened my desire to support others in which I strive to make a meaningful difference in my community.
